Although you don't like the name, maybe you can find a name that you love for the middle name and discuss the name situation again agreeing that you can name the baby Dean as long as he goes by his middle name (the name you really love). The possibility of having a name you really love as the middle name and being able to call the baby that name may help in the name growing on you. That is my best suggestion!
