Can I go to the police and track this email?

I checked my email today and got this email from an anonymous person/peoples. The email says "If I were you, I'd in go in that little kitchen of yours, get the sharpest knife there is and slice my neck right now. And don't leave a note, that's just a reminder to us that you were once alive and no one wants to remember those dreadful memories." I already have an idea of who it is,but I'm not sure. Can I go to the police and track this email? If I do, what will they do? If they even do anything. Help? Thank you.
