A czech lodger came to rent my room just under 2 weeks ago. He couldn't afford the deposit, so I just took on?

one months rent and that was all. I have given him written notice of 4 weeks as of today, which I think is more than appropriate. I was told he could speak english and he can;t plus my teenage daughter is not keen, it was a dreadful mistake. He has employment here, and I have informed his agency of this, am I doing the right thing?
